Read the report The effect of drilling date of spring cereals on black-grass control

Spring drilling is a key cultural technique for the control of black-grass in the UK. As this is increasingly used it has become clear that there are ways to optimise this technique. Central to this is drilling date, and the choice of crop species to maximise crop competition. This trial explores the requirement for herbicide in spring crops, from the perspective of weed density, and whether the herbicide efficacy is impeded by conditions on application.
